CoStar Group has taken the win in the latest round of the battle between the Homes.com parent company and Move , the parent company of Realtor.com. In a tentative ruling released Monday, Judge George H. Wu of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California denied Move’s motion for preliminary injunction and limited expedited discovery in its trade secret lawsuit against CoStar.

The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) announced more than $87 million for public housing agencies (PHAs) to evaluate and reduce residential health hazards in public housing, including lead-based paint, carbon monoxide, mold, radon, and fire safety. Through the Capital Fund Housing-Related Hazards (HRH) and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) Capital Fund programs , HUD is awarding 14 awards totaling $47.7 million under LBP, and 22 awards totaling $40 million under HRH.

Los Angeles area-based mortgage lender Premier Plus Lending announced last week that it is expanding into the senior-focused home equity market with a new division, Retirement Mortgage Solutions , which will include reverse mortgages and other home equity-based lending instruments. “The new division focuses on the needs of retired and elderly homeowners who wish to benefit from their property’s equity ,” the company said in its announcement.

A former regional operations manager at CrossCountry Mortgage (CCM) is suing the company over allegations of age discrimination and wrongful termination for her refusal to participate in illegal activities. Penny Smith, 61, filed the lawsuit in early September in a district court in Pennsylvania. She alleges violations of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the state’s Human Relations Act and common law.

The share of mortgages in forbearance increased to 0.31% in August, up from 0.27% in July, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) monthly Loan Monitoring Survey. The MBA estimates that 155,000 homeowners were in forbearance plans as of the end of August. The share of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans in forbearance increased 1 basis point to 0.13% in August.

The rate of defects in mortgage loans post closing increased 3.27% to 1.58% in the first quarter, ending five quarters of decline, according to ACES’ Mortgage QC Q1 Industry Trends Report. The highest rate of defects fell into the report’s Income/Employment category. However, ACES notes that there was a significant quarter-over-quarter improvement in this category.

On Friday, the firm filed a motion to dismiss the QJ Team copycat commission lawsuit. The suit was filed in Texas in November 2023, roughly two weeks after the jury verdict in the Sitzer/Burnett suit was issued.
