And will job openings continue higher, pushing mortgage rates even higher in the future? I believe today’s job openings data needs some context, but it didn’t matter to bond traders as bond yields shot up after the report.

U.S. home prices posted their biggest annual price increase since February 2023, reaching a 3.7% price gain in August, according to CoreLogic ’s August 2023 Home Price Index. While home prices ticked up 0.3% month-over-month and forecasters expect continued growth over the next year, there are some housing markets likely to see price drops. The median sales price for a U.S. single-family home did not budge in August, hovering at $375,000.

As the commission lawsuits heat up, real estate brokers are gearing up to add buyer representation agreements and training, cut costs and hone value propositions, according to RealTrends Q4 2023 BrokerPulse survey. Only 1% of respondents say they are restructuring their compensation model. About 30% are shoring up agent training and consumer education, while another 25% are implementing buyer representation agreements and increased documentation.
