According to the National Association of Realtors , contract signings kicked off strong in August , with the most contract signings last week in the Midwest, at 21%. As new contract signings are outpacing new listings due to low inventory, properties sold typically within 26 days in the four weeks leading up to August 2, NAR said.

Single-family homebuyers who entered contract, meanwhile, slalomed to 12 total in July compared to 46 a year earlier, per the report. Thirty-three condo contracts were entered in July and 20 were in the $2-$4 million range. Of those 12 homes purchased, 10 cost at least $5 million. The slightly more affordable Aspen option are condos.
